It Will Never Happen

“My word professor, this has to stop. I agreed to let you use the engineering students to build that enormous building that is indestructible .But I cannot have you phoning  Plantasia asking for their animals to be bought here .Your disciples have been creating panic by going around St.Thomas telling everyone a tsunami is coming .My phone has been red hot, there’s talk of the police becoming involved. They will be taking you away in a strait jacket if you’re not careful, think of the reputation of the university, man.”

The elderly professor blinked behind his owl-like glasses, shaking his head.

”It ‘s all coming dean. I told you about the earth tremors from the fracking, the tide levels are rising, it all indicates that a tsunami IS coming. Mark my words. I’m trying to protect all the young talent at Swansea University, it would be criminal not to”

” You have no proof of what you say. ”

“Then why do so many of these talented students, or as you call them disciples, agree with my findings? They are trying to help, as with all young people they want to save as many people and animals as possible but they face so much opposition people laugh at them. Look I have all my research here, just read it and you’ll see I’m right. ”

”I’m sorry but you have obviously lost your mind. I think you need to take time off and let things calm down.”

The elderly man rose to his feet shaking with anger. ”Get out of my office, you stupid little man. This will happen sooner than later. I have to protect my students. ”

The dean rushed to his office, he had to protect the good name of the university. Calling his lecturers in the medical department,  he asked for advice on his next move. Most advised him to have him committed to Cefn Coed if he was beyond reason and a danger to himself, most had heard of his claims but dismissed them as a fantasy, a mind that was senile.

The next few hours flew by as the dean contacted the correct the people to put an end to this madness. The medics had come to collect the elderly man. Screaming and shouting he was led into the ambulance. ”Mark my words it is on its way, you’ll all die. I’ll be the one person alive as the hospital is away from the carnage to come.”

The dean leaned back in his chair heaving a sigh of relief it was over.

A siren then erupted, the noise deafening. Looking out of his window he saw scores of students heading to the newly built building. Puzzled he thought: what now!

Across the bay a huge black cloud reaching up from the sea racing to devour anything in its path. The dean stood in shock as the sea rushed to meet him …..
