Mum | “Robin, please spend some time with Grandpa this Christmas.” |
Robin | “Yes mum, but he‘s so boring, everything was always better in his days, the snow was colder, the sun shone more and blah de blah de blah.” |
Mum | “I know, but just be nice will you, he’s quite lonely now since Grandma died. He’s only staying for two days, so let’s just try and make this a nice Christmas for him.” |
Christmas Day | |
Robin | “Hi Grandpa.” |
Grandpa | “Hi Robin bach, gosh haven’t you grown, you were named after me you know.” |
Robin | “Yes Grandpa, you have told me before.” |
Grandpa | “Let’s have a look at this fancy new computer you’ve had, I hear it is a good one.” |
Robin | “Yeah, it’s mega fast and mum bought me loads of games as well. It’s upstairs in my bedroom, do you want to come up?”……. |
Later on | |
Mum | “Robin, Dad, your Christmas Dinner is on the table.” |
Grandpa | “Oh, I do like bit of Welsh Lamb, it was your Grandma’s favourite, she always use to say “Stuff the turkey, let’s have lamb!”” |
Mum | Dad! |
Robin | “Mum, you never guess, Grandpa beat me at Battleships, he was awesome. Can we go back up after dinner? Grandpa’s promised to teach me how to play chess on the computer.” |
Mum | “Of course you can, I didn’t know you could play chess dad?” |
Grandpa | “It’s these IT lessons I‘ve been going to, they teach you loads of things, they are certainly not boring. Say Robin, would it be alright if I borrowed your old computer, now you have a brand spanking new one?” |
Robin | “Sure thing Grandpa, I can teach you how to Skype, then we will be able to talk to each other more often, if I get good enough, maybe we can play chess online, that would be cool.” |
Grandpa | “Sounds good to me.” |
Robin | “Mummy” |
Mum | “Yes, Robin” |
Robin | “Would it be alright for Grandpa to stay for a little bit longer? He could teach me a lot more and perhaps Danny could come and play with us.” |
Mum | “What do you think Dad?” |
Grandpa | “I wouldn’t mind if that’s alright with you.” |
Robin | “High five Grandpa! “I’ll go and phone Danny to see when he can come over.” |
