The credits rolled over the screen as he stood to turn off the television after their normal Saturday night animated film, as if it was a routine action.
“Do you think we need fairies?” she asked jokingly as she stretched after lying awkwardly for the past half an hour.
“No of course not,” he smiled as he started tickling her feet. “Our fairy tale consists of takeaways, laughter, cuddles and adventure.”
She giggled uncontrollably as she tried to wiggle away from her tickle monster.

Stepping out of the car, taking his hand. Her lace blue dress matched his tie.
“Are you sure this is the right place? There doesn’t seem to be anything here?” she asked a little uncertain.
“This is where the invite said, so we’ll give it a go?” he responded, squeezing her hand.
They took a moment to admire each other’s smartly dressed selves; as their eyes met, a soft whisp of light danced between them. Small though it was, it was the only light for miles. The warm glow clearly had their attention and floated off into the near distance. The young couple followed carefully behind until they came to a courtyard. The light had disappeared so it seemed a good time to appreciate the clear night sky.
Suddenly, around the courtyard, parts of land were brought to life by lights of different shapes and colours. From warm whites to pinks, violets, blues and greens, a blossom of colour!
There was a pathway with sparkles glistening along it. Following the path, soon enough, both had forgotten how mysterious this experience was. Moments were filled with laughter, fun, falling deeper in love and admiring the beauty of the lights under the clear night sky.
Together, the pair took an interest in the red and white toadstools that had the same detailing as the ones in their favourite films, the delicate ivy that climbed the old oak trees, the enchanted silver gates, the freshly cut grass and the precisely shaped hedges. There were brightly coloured inch tall doors at the bottom of trees, with glitter leading to them, whisps of light that seemed to encircle them, the subtle noise that sounded like the flutter of wings, accompanied with soft, happy giggles.
As the winding path opened out, there, sat a castle, illuminated in colour, showing off the intricate architecture. The soft sound of the couple’s Spotify playlist echoed across the clearing in front of the castle.
Feet wading through golden fairy dust, eyes locked and smiles softly passing over them, the pair swayed, twirled, waltzed, laughed and sung at the top of their voices.
As the night came to an end, they were sat silently hand in hand on a garden bench. Heart beats synchronised, both knew the other was trying to understand what had happened that evening.
Looking at the sparkle in her eyes, he broke the silence;
“ Do you fancy a takeaway sweetheart?”
“ Of course sweetie ”
